Welcome...
to The Engham House, lodging on the Eastern side of the Blue Ridge Mountains, at Thornton Gap, Route 211.  We are convenient to Old Rag Mountain, White Oak Canyon, Shenandoah National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway.  In a small village called Sperryville.   
  The Engham House is named after James Arthur Engham, a Black entrepreneur who built the house at the turn of the 20th century, and lived his life here. Our rooms are beautifully restored in period style furnishings, and include a variety of options to meet every budget. We look forward to providing you with a wonderful space in which to rest and renew here at Engham House.

    ENGHAM'S STUDIO has a wheelchair accessible shower and a pot-bellied stove for winter months.

    THE MASTER SUITE includes a fold out queen futon in a separate room and has a two-night minimum.

    THE WEST WING HOSTEL includes a large lounge on the ground floor with a large pot-bellied stove.  Parties up to 6 are welcome.  $185 night, two-night minimum.  Walk to great restaurants, The Thornton River Grill, Indigo, Barbeque, and Rudy's Pizza.



    Engham House is currently offering bioholistic healing retreats with master therapist Elizabeth Lee, a bioholistic practitioner for over 35 years. Elizabeth incorporates the concepts of Bioenergetics and Biodynamics with multiple disciplines in body therapy, to assist clients in balancing the ultimate relationship between the inner-self (spirit), the outer-self (universe) and the body that goes in between.
